What is your favorite movie or TV series about vampires?
Ian Somerhalder, in an interview with Collider, is talking about how he got cast as Damon Salvatore on 'The Vampire Diaries': “I think I got the offer for the show, which was hell to get, on March 1, 2009. I started auditioning for the show in February of 2009 — crazy. Actually, Taylor Sheridan coached me on this audition. He used to be an acting coach, an amazing one. So for us to be here almost 17 years later with you is badass, I just want to say thank you.
Originally, when the idea of first playing the character came out, he turned it down: "No. This is Twilight on TV. Screw that. So I went about my business, and they were like 'Are you sure?' and I was like 'I'm good.'"
Somerhalder would later change his mind, although the process wasn't easy: "It was two weeks of total hell. Bombed the network test." After the first take, Williamson took him aside, saying, "'Well, that sucked.' And I'm like, 'I know, dude, I don't know what happened.' [...] 'Just do what you did in the studio test, it was like 8 hours ago, dude, just do that.'"
