What are your favorite movies or TV shows about technology? The ones that come to my mind are 'Tetris', 'Blackberry', 'Super Pumped', 'WeCrashed', and of course 'The Social Network.'
The sequel to 'The Social Network' has been given the title 'The Social Reckoning', which will be directed by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing). Sorkin wrote the first film's script and is taking over directing duties from David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven).
The film will see Jeremy Strong (Succession) taking over the Mark Zuckerberg role from Jesse Eisenberg, who, for some reason, turned it down to maybe do more magic movies. Jeremy Allen White (Shameless, The Bear) will play Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horowitz, and Mikey Madison (Anora) will play whistleblower Frances Haugen, who released an inside report Facebook did on misinformation and how it incited violence of the 2021 Capitol insurrection. I'd like to know why since last week, every second Facebook ad is for hair transplants in Turkey. Is there something it's trying to tell me?
In some good news for the Vancouver film industry, the city will host filming later this fall. While I can do without Fincher returning, with Eisenberg not coming back, it will be harder to think of it as a sequel and not a completely different film. But I'm happy Vancouver will get to employ crew.
