Collage of ESPN NFL analysts with Monday Night Football logo and text asking if Greg Olsen or Peyton Manning will replace Troy Aikman.

Which is your favorite football team? Growing up in Ontario, it was the Buffalo Bills, but when I got really into it ten years ago, I was a fan of the New England Patriots and followed Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, the team started this season 2-5 and is fighting for first place in the NFC South.

Sad news, NFL fans, with rumors of Troy Aikman leaving as color commentator with ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' after this year, after a big controversy of his play-by-play man Joe Buck receiving a contract extension and Aikman not, leading to a heated altercation between the two on the October 12th game between the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills.

Buck's extension is for six years at $108 million, which was apparently in the works for months without Aikman's knowledge. What makes it trickier is they share the same talent agency, CAA, although with different agents. Buck confronted Aikman, asking him if he was going to ignore him, while Aikman replied he didn't think he would do that to him.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic now thinks Greg Olsen, who was replaced at Fox as their number one guy after Tom Brady took over two years ago, is the leading choice to replace Aikman after his contract runs out after this season. But the 'ManningCast' host Peyton Manning may also be under consideration.

"In an ideal world, I think ESPN would love to team Peyton with Joe Buck. That feels like Monday Night Football. Buck recently made his main residence in Denver and lives five minutes from Peyton, I was told. That said, Peyton has always said no to the booth. His (work from home) arrangement with Eli for the games they want to work is pretty sweet. So it is more likely Peyton says no, though maybe they could set up a hybrid work environment for Eli and him, splitting the games and doing some together. It is probably more unlikely than likely."

I personally think Aikman is the second best color commentator in the game behind Tony Romo, who is also without a home after being fired from CBS before this season started due to a DUI arrest. Aikman provides steady analysis that I don't think can be replaced as his chemistry with Buck could be the best in all of sports.
