What's your favorite Michael Mann movie? Would you believe he's 82 years old? If I lived to 82, I'd be happy to be playing canasta at Del Boca Vista.
Hollywood Insider Jordan Ruimy's World Of Reel has reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is close to signing onto 'Heat 2', which has been greenlit at Warner Bros with Apple as a potential partner. The project was stalled when the budget blew up to $200 million. You could get a lot of old-school Hollywood buffets with that.
Mann has been pushing for the sequel since he released a novel in 2022 that was a sequel-prequel mix that was co-written with Meg Gardiner. It's about the early days of the characters Vincent Hanna, Neil McCauley, and Chris Shiherlis, that was played by Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Val Kilmer.
It's rumored that Austin Butler and Adam Driver will play the younger versions of Kilmer and De Niro. I think they should get Anthony Ippolito to play Pacino's role, as he actually played Pacino before in 'The Offer', which was about the making of 'The Godfather'. No word on who DiCaprio could play, but maybe Bill Belichick could be a character.
