Deeper follows an astronaut turned deep-sea explorer who confronts an otherworldly force in a mysterious trench never before reached by man. The project has been gestating since 2016, initially acquired by MGM as a Max Landis spec script. Over the years, it saw several iterations—with stars like Bradley Cooper and Idris Elba once attached—yet never surfaced. Now, with Mission: Impossible mastermind Christopher McQuarrie reportedly working on the script, momentum is real.

Backed by a rumored $200 million budget, the film is ambitious—and pricey.
